First, a note on the name. Since 2023 the tournament has been THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson; many people still search for it as the AT&T Byron Nelson, its title until 2022. It is played at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, north of Dallas, which has agreed to host through 2030, and it is run by the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, whose members stage the event and send the proceeds to their charity, the Momentous Institute. Second, the timing. In 2027 the tournament moves to April 26 to May 2, with the four rounds from Thursday, April 29 to Sunday, May 2, right in North Texas's spring storm season. A calm morning can turn into hail, high winds or lightning by the afternoon, and tents, displays and guests all need a plan.
