State Farm Champions Classic Event Staff for Brands and Alumni

Eleven8 provides professional event staff for concourse promo staff, brand ambassadors, production assistants and guest check-in hosts for the brands, agencies, alumni groups and companies working around the State Farm Champions Classic Staff your tournament activation today.

State Farm Champions Classic Suite and Reception Hosts

The State Farm Champions Classic opens the college basketball season with two games on one night between four of the sport's biggest programs: Duke, Kansas, Kentucky and Michigan State. Eleven8 provides event staff for the brands, agencies, alumni groups and companies that work around it, from brand ambassadors at a concourse display to hosts for a suite or a pre-game reception. The next edition is on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at the United Center in Chicago, with Michigan State against Duke and Kansas against Kentucky.

It is a doubleheader, not a tournament, and that sets the staffing. One ticket covers both games, so the arena holds four fan bases at once, and the crowd changes through the night: supporters of the first two teams arrive early, and many of the second pair come in during the first game. The half hour between the games is the busiest time on the concourse all evening. We staff a display for that peak and for the hour before the first tip, and we keep a lighter crew on while play is under way.

None of the four schools is local, so most of the people in the building are alumni who live in the host city plus fans who have traveled. Alumni chapters and companies hold pre-game receptions in restaurants and bars before heading to the arena, and because the game falls on a weeknight, firms use suites to entertain clients after work. Our check-in staff and hosts cover those events as well as the arena. In November the weather in Chicago is cold, so any line outdoors has to be kept short.

The host city changes. The event has been played in New York, Chicago, Indianapolis and Atlanta, and the sites for 2027 and 2028 have not been announced, so each year we put together a local crew in that year's city under the same account manager. What can be displayed inside the arena is decided by the event's organizer and the venue, who also run tickets, doors, security and credentials. Our staff work in the space your company has arranged. Tell us what you have planned through the quote form and we will send rates and staff profiles.

State Farm Champions Classic Staffing Schedule for Game Night

Every State Farm Champions Classic crew follows our 11-step process, fitted to a single evening. There is no second day to correct a mistake, so the plan is fixed early: who stands where before the first game, who moves during the break between games, and who stays through the late finish of the second. Each person receives that schedule, the arena map and your brief before the day.

From the moment you confirm, one account manager is responsible for your program and remains your contact until the report is delivered, with our operations office supporting them at no additional fee. You and the crew are on separate message channels, so a last-minute change to a guest list or a display reaches the right people before doors open.

On the day, staff arrive ahead of their call time, confirm attendance by location check-in and walk the arena with their lead: the display, the nearest restrooms, storage, the route to your suite and the areas they may not enter. A group chat links the concourse team, the hosts and anyone at an outside reception until the building empties after the second game.

1 reserve per 8 staff — a briefed backup from the host city, on call for the evening at no added expense
Location-verified check-in — a time-stamped record that every crew member was in place before doors opened
Account manager & on-site lead — one lead in the arena and one at any outside event, for the whole evening
Post-event report — samples, sign-ups and guests counted for each game and the break between them, with notes on every staff member

Eleven Steps in a State Farm Champions Classic Evening

One evening, two games, one plan
1
Planning
Client and crew channels open. Your arena space, any outside reception, uniforms, deliveries and the evening's shift plan are fixed well before the first game tips off.
2
Staff Check-In
Staff reach the arena 15 minutes before their call time, and location-verified check-in confirms that the whole crew is present before doors open to fans.
3
Arena Walk
The lead walks the crew past your display, storage, restrooms, the route to your suite and the areas closed to them, and confirms each one.
4
Positions
Leads assign each person a place for the first game, the break and the second game, and agree who covers whom during rest periods.
5
Briefing
The crew reviews both matchups, tip times, the four fan bases, your messages and giveaway limits, and the targets set for the evening.
6
Setup
Displays, giveaways and check-in tables are stocked, tested and ready for fans 30 minutes before the arena opens.
7
Doors Open
Fans come in. Leads watch the concourse, put the full crew on the display before the first game and again in the break, and thin it out while play is on.
8
Breaks
Rest periods follow workforce regulations and are taken during play, when the concourse is quiet, so the display is fully staffed at the busy times.
9
Problem Solving
A missing box, a guest without a ticket or a fault with a screen is handled at once by the lead, out of sight of fans and of your client.
10
Pack-Down
After the second game the display is taken down, stock is counted and everything is packed or returned to your instructions before the crew leaves.
11
Report
Credentials are returned, the crew is debriefed and the lead sends the evening's numbers and observations to your account manager.

Event Staffing Types at State Farm Classic

Promo staff at a branded display talking with basketball fans on an arena concourse

Our Concourse Promo Staff run the display your company has arranged inside the arena at the State Farm Champions Classic. They set it up, hand out giveaways, run contests and photo moments and keep the line moving during the two rushes of the night: the hour before the first game and the break before the second. While the games are on they restock and reset. Directing fans, checking tickets and controlling entry are done by the arena's own staff.

Clients We Staff Around the State Farm Champions Classic

The companies we staff around the State Farm Champions Classic are mostly consumer brands that market to college sports fans, such as drinks, snacks, apparel and technology, along with banks, insurers and the agencies that manage their programs. Alumni associations book hosts for receptions, and firms book them for client suites. Many of these clients continue with us to the end of the season at the Final Four, five months later.

Eleven8 is an independent staffing agency. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by State Farm, the Champions Classic, ESPN Events, the United Center or any participating university. "State Farm" and "Champions Classic" are trademarks of their respective owners. We provide event staff to the brands, agencies and hosts working around the event. All marks belong to their owners and are used for identification only.

Pre-Game Reception Staff for the State Farm Champions Classic

Much of the business around the State Farm Champions Classic happens before anyone reaches their seat. Alumni chapters of the four schools gather in bars and restaurants, companies host customers for dinner, and brands set up at those gatherings as well as in the arena. For the 2026 game in Chicago that means the West Loop and downtown, a short ride from the United Center. Our hostesses and check-in staff run the door and the room, and our event managers keep the timing so that guests leave for the arena before the first tip.

Experienced Arena Staff for the State Farm Champions Classic

Staff Who Follow College Basketball

Only a small share of applicants join our roster, and for the State Farm Champions Classic we choose the ones who watch college basketball. They know the four programs, their coaches and their rivalries well enough to hold a short, friendly conversation with any fan in the building, and they treat every school with the same respect while they introduce your product.

Used to Large Arenas

An NBA-size arena has several concourse levels, club areas and a ring of suites, with service corridors the public never sees. Our staff are used to these buildings. They learn the route from the loading dock to your display and from the entrance to your suite before doors open, and they stay alert through a shift that can run from late afternoon to nearly midnight.

Polished in Front of Clients

A weeknight game draws many business guests as well as students and alumni. Our staff dress to your standard, arrive early, know your guest list and keep their phones away. At a display they are lively, in a suite they are quiet and attentive, and in both places they give the accurate, consistent account of your brand that you asked for.

Insured and Ready for a Long Evening

Our staff are fully insured, and certificates are sent to the arena, a restaurant or a hotel when they are required. They are prepared for an indoor event with two games back to back: a long time standing, a crowd that swells and thins several times and a late finish, with warm clothing for any work outside in November.

Arena, Suite and Reception Covered

A State Farm Champions Classic program can include a concourse display, a suite and a reception across town. We staff all three from one roster under one account manager, so guests are checked in once, handed from the reception host to the suite host by name, and your display is staffed from doors opening to the final buzzer of the second game.

Changes Handled on the Night

With one evening to get it right, changes have to be dealt with as they happen. If a delivery is delayed, a guest list grows or a display needs more hands in the break, our operations team is reachable throughout and can move staff or send the reserve within minutes, so the problem is solved before the second game starts.

From the first tip to the final buzzer of the second game, our staff give your brand a capable, friendly presence at the State Farm Champions Classic, wherever it is played that year. If your plans in Chicago include other venues, our Wrigley Field staffing page shows how we work in the city. To get started, send a staffing inquiry with the date, the spaces you have and the number of guests, and we will come back with a crew and a price.

Carefully Chosen Staff
Each person on your State Farm Champions Classic crew has passed a screening that few applicants get through, has been trained in our 11-step process and has been matched to a role before the day. They receive your brief and a guide to the four teams in advance, so they are useful from the first minute and you are not training anyone at your display.
24,821 Staff Across North America
Because our 24,821 staff are spread across North America, we have experienced people in each city the event visits. We do not begin recruiting when the site is announced; we select from staff who already work arenas and stadiums there. Your crew is confirmed and briefed well before the doors open, wherever the game is played that year.
One Account Manager
The same account manager looks after you from the first inquiry to the report after the game, whichever city hosts that year. They keep your brief, guest lists and standards on file, direct the crew on a separate channel and are supported by our operations office at no extra fee, so returning clients do not have to start again each November.
Reserve Staff Included
Every booking carries one briefed reserve for every eight staff at no added charge. The reserve is on call from the start of the shift and can reach the arena or your reception quickly. If someone is unwell or held up in traffic, the replacement arrives before the busy period and your crew stays at full strength.
Arena and College Sports Experience
Our staff have worked college tournaments, NBA and NHL nights, conference championships and brand programs aimed at students and alumni. They know how to draw a passing fan to a display, run a contest fairly, reset between crowds and keep a busy space tidy and safe, which is the routine a doubleheader demands twice in one evening.
Reachable All Evening
Your account manager and the on-site lead answer from the time the crew checks in until the display is packed away. If you want two more people at the display for the break, or a host sent to meet a late guest, you ask once and it is done. You are free to watch the games with your clients.

State Farm Champions Classic Staffing FAQs

What is the State Farm Champions Classic and when is the next one? +
It is a season-opening college basketball doubleheader organized by ESPN Events, played every November between Duke, Kansas, Kentucky and Michigan State at a neutral arena. The next one is on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at the United Center in Chicago: Michigan State plays Duke and Kansas plays Kentucky. The 2027 game is set for November 9 and the 2028 game for November 7, at sites still to be announced. We staff brand, alumni and corporate events around it in whichever city hosts.
What happens if one of our staff cannot work the night? +
We include one reserve for every eight staff at no extra cost. That person has had the same briefing and is on call near the arena from the start of the shift. If a crew member is ill or delayed, the reserve takes the position and the lead covers it until they arrive. Since there is only one evening, we confirm attendance with every staff member the day before and again that morning.
How many staff do we need for a display at the State Farm Champions Classic? +
It depends on the size of the space and what you are doing there. As a guide, a small giveaway table needs three or four people at the busiest times, and a larger display with a contest or a demonstration needs six to ten, plus a production assistant and a lead. The peaks are the hour before the first game and the break before the second, so we schedule the full crew for those and fewer during play. We will suggest numbers when you send your plan.
Do your staff know the four teams? +
Yes. We pick staff who follow college basketball and send each of them a short guide to Duke, Kansas, Kentucky and Michigan State before the game: colors, nicknames, coaches, last season and the current roster's best-known names. Fans of these programs know the sport well and enjoy talking about it. Our staff can join that conversation, stay neutral between rivals and bring it round to your product without sounding scripted.
How far ahead should we book staff for the State Farm Champions Classic? +
Six to eight weeks ahead is comfortable, and earlier if you need a large crew or hosts for several events. The date is known a year in advance, so there is no reason to wait. Start by sending the quote form with the spaces you have, the hours and the roles. We then propose a crew with profiles, agree uniforms and briefing with you, and confirm everything at least two weeks before the game.
Can you staff an alumni reception or client dinner on game night? +
Yes. Pre-game receptions are a large part of our work around this event. We provide check-in staff for the door, hosts for the room and a setup crew, and they work alongside the restaurant's or hotel's own servers and bartenders. A host can travel with your group to the arena and hand guests over to the suite host there, so the evening feels like one event from the first drink to the final buzzer.
Do you staff the State Farm Champions Classic when it is in another city? +
Yes. The event has been held in New York, Chicago, Indianapolis and Atlanta, and we have staff in each of those cities and in the other major markets it could visit. Your account manager stays the same from year to year and builds a local crew once the site is announced. Clients who return each November keep their brief, uniforms and reporting format, and only the crew and the city change.
What other college basketball events do you staff? +
We staff brand and hospitality programs at conference tournaments, holiday events, the NCAA tournament and the Final Four, as well as NBA games and arena concerts in the same buildings. That range means our staff know how an arena crowd behaves ahead of tip-off, during breaks and after the final buzzer. If you have several college basketball dates in a season, tell us and we will plan and price them as one program.
