Hire Electric Forest Event Staff at Double JJ Resort

Activation hosts, brand ambassadors, production assistants and camp lounge hosts for the brands at Electric Forest in Rothbury, Michigan, with crews housed near the site and briefed for four days in the woods.

Electric Forest Staffing for a Four-Day Camping Festival

Eleven8 provides event staff at Electric Forest for the brands and agencies that have a space at the festival. Since 2011 it has taken place at the Double JJ Resort in Rothbury, Michigan, over one long weekend in late June, with stages in open fields, a lit-up stretch of woods called the Sherwood Forest and campgrounds where nearly everyone stays. The 2026 edition ran from Thursday, June 25 to Sunday, June 28 and sold out; about 50,000 people were estimated to attend in 2024. Festival sites list June 24-27 for 2027, though the festival itself had not confirmed them at the time of writing. We supply experiential staff and every other role a brand space needs, for all four days.

The biggest difference from a city festival is that the crew lives on site too. Nobody goes home at night. Before we price a job we work out where your staff will sleep, eat and shower, whether in a crew campground or in rooms booked months ahead in nearby towns, and how they reach your space each morning. Four days in the open is tiring, so we schedule real time off, protect sleep and make sure everyone arrives with rain gear, boots, a headlamp and insect repellent.

Rothbury is a small place in rural west Michigan, a long way from the big cities. Our crews come from Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Detroit and Chicago, and they travel in before the Thursday rush, when traffic on the two-lane roads around the site can back up for hours. That is built into the call sheet and the quote.

The Sherwood Forest is the part people remember, and any brand near it is judged closely. At night it is dark between the light installations, the ground is full of roots, and nothing may be fixed to a tree without the festival's say-so. Staff working there are briefed on low-light safety, on leaving no trace and on how to talk with visitors without breaking the mood. Brands whose staff run product sampling in the woods keep it simple and quiet.

To get a price, tell us on the quote form which days you need, where your space is and whether your crew will need lodging. Brands that also go to Bonnaroo in June often plan both camping festivals with us at once.

Electric Forest Crew Housing and Shift Plan

Our 11-step process starts earlier at Electric Forest than at most festivals, because the crew has to live there. We confirm lodging or crew camping, meals and transport for every person before anything else, then plan travel so the team reaches Rothbury the day before the gates open and avoids the arrival traffic. Each festival day is split into a day shift and a night shift, because the music runs late and activations in the Sherwood Forest are busiest after dark. The same people return each day, and nobody works both shifts, so the energy and the patience on Sunday night match what your visitors saw on Thursday.

Your account manager takes the booking from the first call to the final report, with our operations office supporting them at no extra cost. In the weeks before the festival they arrange the crew's passes through your brand, settle lodging and travel, agree build times with your agency and open two chats, one for your team and one for the crew, so that nothing gets lost when phone signal in the woods is weak.

Every morning and evening the shift checks in by geo-location, walks the space with the lead, including the paths to it through the trees, and checks lighting, stock and weather before opening. Leads carry radios as well as phones, because signal can drop when the site is full, and they keep in touch with your own team until the night shift has closed up for the day.

1 standby per 8 staff members — housed with the crew and briefed on your activation, ready for any day or night shift at no additional cost
Geo-located clock in & out — a record of each shift starting and ending at your space, day and night, across all four days
Dedicated account manager & shift leads — one planner for travel, lodging and shifts, and a lead on every day and night shift
Daily notes & staff reviews — visitors, sign-ups, stock and weather stops logged each day, with a full report after the weekend

Electric Forest Daily Crew Routine on Site

Thursday to Sunday at the Double JJ Resort
1
Planning
Client and crew channels open. Roles, passes, uniforms, lodging, meals, travel, day and night shifts and the festival's rules for your space are all confirmed weeks before Thursday.
2
Travel and Lodging
The crew travels to Rothbury the day before the gates open, settles into its lodging or crew camp and checks in by geo-location when it reaches your space for the first time.
3
Walkthrough
The lead walks the crew through your space, the routes to it through fields and woods, water, shelter, first aid, restrooms and the areas the festival keeps for itself.
4
Positions
Leads place hosts at the front, a person on sign-ups, runners for stock and ice, and the people who will cover breaks, with separate teams for the day and the night shift.
5
Briefing
The crew goes over set times nearby, the weather and lightning plan, the offer, the community rules about the woods and how to speak with visitors without breaking the mood.
6
Setup
Lights, displays, samples and tablets are checked and ready before the gates open or the night shift starts, and anything that could blow away in a storm is weighted.
7
Gates Open
Visitors arrive. Leads follow the crowd between stages and the Sherwood Forest, add hands before a big set ends nearby and keep the space calm, clean and lit after dark, all the way through each long festival day.
8
Rest and Breaks
Leads schedule breaks within Michigan labor rules and protect sleep between shifts, so that nobody is working on too little rest by Saturday night.
9
Lead Steps In
A visitor who needs help, a storm warning, a lighting failure or a stock problem is handled by the lead at once, with festival medical teams called when needed.
10
Shift Close
At the end of each shift the space is cleaned, rubbish is removed so the woods are left as found, and stock and electronics are stored safely for the next shift.
11
Debrief
Passes are checked, each shift tells the lead what visitors asked and what slowed them down, and the notes reach your account manager before the next morning.

Electric Forest Crew Positions for Brand Spaces

Festival visitors at a softly lit brand installation among trees at night

Our Forest Activation Hosts run the brand spaces at Electric Forest, including the ones in and near the Sherwood Forest. They welcome visitors, explain the installation or the experience in a few friendly words, keep any line short and look after the space so it stays beautiful from the first morning to the small hours. In the woods they work in low light and on uneven ground, keep visitors safe around cables and lights and leave the trees untouched. They know the difference between a crowd at noon and a crowd at two in the morning, and adjust to each.

Brands We've Supported at Electric Forest

The brands that hire us at Electric Forest are mostly ones a camping crowd actually uses: outdoor and camping gear, water and energy drinks, snacks, sunscreen and personal care, apparel and music services. Several build installations or rest areas rather than simple booths, and they need staff who treat the space as part of the festival rather than an advert inside it. The agencies behind those spaces come back because our crews arrive housed, fed, briefed and ready, and stay that way for four days. For brands that want people who can talk naturally with a returning crowd, our brand ambassadors are chosen from those who know this kind of festival.

Eleven8 is an independent staffing agency. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Electric Forest, Madison House Presents, Insomniac or the Double JJ Resort. "Electric Forest" is a trademark of its owners. We provide event staff to the brands and agencies activating at the festival. All marks belong to their owners and are used for identification only.

Electric Forest Camp Lounge and Guest Hosting Staff

A lot of what brands do at Electric Forest happens away from the stages. They run lounges and rest areas in the camping zones, host creators and artists' friends for the weekend, and give their own teams somewhere to work and recover. These spaces need calm, practical hosts rather than promoters. Our hostesses welcome guests, keep the space tidy, stocked and comfortable through heat and rain, and know where to send someone who needs medical help, water or a charger.

Midwest Festival Crews for Electric Forest Activations

People Who Know This Kind of Festival

Only about 3.5% of applicants join Eleven8, and for Electric Forest we look for people from the Midwest festival and arts scene, many of whom have camped at this festival or others like it. They understand a returning crowd that treats the weekend as its own, and they know that the quickest way to lose that crowd is to behave like a salesperson. They arrive as respectful guests who have a job to do, and the community responds to that with warmth.

A Crew That Is Housed and Rested

Most problems with festival staff on day three come from bad sleep and poor planning, not bad people. We plan where every person sleeps, eats and showers before the festival, keep day and night crews separate so nobody works around the clock and give each shift proper time off. Staff bring the right kit for four days outside. The result is a team that is as patient and alert on Sunday as it was on Thursday, which is when it matters most for your brand.

Careful Work in the Sherwood Forest

The Sherwood Forest is the heart of Electric Forest, and the community notices anything that harms it. Staff working in or near the woods are briefed on low-light safety, on protecting the trees and the art, on keeping noise and light from your space respectful and on leaving no rubbish behind. They talk with visitors gently and let the setting do most of the work. Your space should feel as though it belongs among the trees, and our staff are trained to keep it that way.

Insured and Ready for June Storms

Every person we send is insured, and if the producers, the resort or your agency need a certificate in their name, we supply one. Late June in west Michigan can bring heat, humidity and sudden thunderstorms, and the festival may pause activity for lightning. Our leads know the plan: secure the space, move the crew to shelter, look after any visitors and reopen safely, then tell you what happened and when.

Spaces Spread Across Fields and Woods

Electric Forest is spread across open fields, campgrounds and woods, and a brand may have more than one space with a long walk between them. We give each space its own lead, plus runners who carry stock and swap staff along the paths. Leads carry radios because phone signal can drop when the site is full. You get one plan, one account manager and one daily report covering every space you run, however far apart they are.

Support From Load-In to Sunday Night

A four-day camping festival needs someone available the whole time, not only during opening hours. Our account manager and leads are reachable from the first build day until your space is struck on Sunday night, including the late-night shift. If a storm closes your space, a crew member falls ill or a product runs out, they change the plan within the hour, bring in a standby from the crew camp and confirm the change to you in writing.

At Electric Forest your staff are part of the community for four days, living, working and resting alongside the people they are talking to. We send Midwest crews who are housed, fed and briefed, who treat the woods and the art with care and who are still friendly at two in the morning on the last night. Brands planning a city festival in the Midwest later in the summer can read about staffing at Lollapalooza. To start planning your weekend in Rothbury, send us your Electric Forest plans.

Every member of your Electric Forest crew has been interviewed and reference-checked, trained in our 11-step process and briefed on your brand before the trip to Rothbury. They also learn the community rules about the woods, low-light safety and the weather plan. You can read each profile before the festival and ask for someone to be replaced if they do not fit the spirit of your space.
24,821 Active Staff Across North America
Your Electric Forest crew comes from the part of our 24,821-person roster that lives in Michigan and the nearby Midwest, mainly Grand Rapids, Detroit and Chicago. We book them early, because late June is busy for festival staff across the region, and we include travel and lodging in the plan from the start, so nothing about getting them to Rothbury comes as a surprise later.
One Account Manager, Complete Continuity
From the first call until the report after Sunday, one account manager handles your Electric Forest booking. They arrange lodging, travel and passes, plan the day and night shifts and stay in touch with your team all weekend, including after dark. Your people and our crew talk in separate chats, which keeps instructions clear, and our back office stands behind the account manager free of charge.
Standby Coverage Across the Full Festival Run
For every eight crew we bring a ninth, at our cost, who travels and lodges with the team and is briefed on your space. At a festival where everyone is far from home, a replacement cannot simply be called in from across town, so the standby is already on site. If someone is ill, injured or worn out, they step in for the next shift without any gap.
Camping Festival & Outdoor Event Experience
Our Midwest staff have worked camping festivals, multi-day outdoor concerts, county fairs, art events and brand tours. They are used to keeping a space looking good in mud and rain, how to work safely after dark and how to stay pleasant with people who have been dancing for three days. Several have worked Electric Forest before and know the site, the paths and the rhythm of the weekend.
Present Every Day, Every Shift, Every Space
The account manager and each shift lead can be reached from the first build day until your space is struck, at night as well as during the day. Extra hands for Saturday night, a change of offer, a crew stood down for a storm: each needs one message from you, and you get a reply as soon as it is done.

Electric Forest Sherwood Forest Staffing Questions

How is Electric Forest different to staff from other music festivals? +
In three main ways. First, the crew lives on site or nearby for four days, so lodging, meals, rest and kit have to be planned before the festival, not left to the staff. Second, much of the best brand activity is in the Sherwood Forest, a wooded area that is busiest after dark, which means low light, uneven ground and strict rules about the trees and the art. Third, the crowd is a returning community that treats the festival as its own and notices any brand that feels out of place. We choose and brief staff for all three, and we split each day into a day shift and a night shift so that nobody is worn out by the final evening of the weekend.
Where do your Electric Forest staff come from? +
Mostly from Michigan and the nearby Midwest: Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Detroit and Chicago. We look for people from the region's festival and arts scene, and many have camped at Electric Forest or similar festivals themselves, so they understand the crowd and the setting. Rothbury is rural and a long drive from most cities, so we plan travel with each person, arrange carpools and include lodging where needed. Everyone arrives the day before the gates open, ahead of the Thursday traffic, and meets the lead for a site walk before the first shift begins.
Do you staff activations inside the Sherwood Forest at Electric Forest? +
Yes, if your brand has a space there. Activations in the Sherwood Forest are chosen carefully by the festival and judged closely by the community, so we look for staff with backgrounds in art, performance and immersive events. They are briefed on the installation and its idea, on working safely in low light and on uneven ground, on never fixing anything to a tree without permission and on leaving no rubbish behind. They keep their voices and lights gentle and let the setting do the work. We collect the festival's written rules for your space beforehand, so the lead has them on hand all weekend.
What approach works for brand ambassadors with the Electric Forest crowd? +
Slowly and as equals. Many visitors have been coming for years and think of the festival as home, and they lose interest fast in anything that feels like selling. Our ambassadors start with the person in front of them, the set they enjoyed or the art they just walked through, and introduce your brand only when it fits the conversation. They offer the sample, the sign-up or the experience without pressure and are happy for people to simply enjoy the space and move on. That patience lasts all four days because the crew is rested, and it is what the community remembers about a brand afterward.
What is the process to hire Electric Forest event staff? +
The quote form is the first step. Let us know the days you need, where your space is, which roles you want and whether the crew needs lodging. We reply with a plan covering shifts, travel, lodging and the price, along with profiles of the people we suggest. After you have picked the team and the uniform, a deposit secures everyone, standbys included. We recommend starting at least eight weeks before the festival, because housing near Rothbury in late June goes quickly and good staff in the region are in demand. Shorter notice is possible for a small crew if lodging is already sorted, but the choice of people and places to stay narrows quickly as the festival approaches.
Where do your staff sleep during Electric Forest, and how long are their shifts? +
Before the festival we confirm a bed or a campsite for every person: either a crew camping area arranged through your brand's access, or rooms in nearby towns booked well in advance, with a shuttle or carpool to the site. Meals, water and showers are part of the plan. Each festival day has a day shift and a night shift, usually eight to ten hours each with breaks, and nobody works both on the same day. Leads protect sleep between shifts. That structure is what keeps a crew patient and alert on the fourth day, when tiredness usually shows, and it is the main reason clients book the same team again the following year.
Do you staff brand lounges and hospitality in the Electric Forest camping areas? +
Yes, and for some brands that is the main job. We staff lounges, rest areas, charging stations and hospitality spaces in the camping zones, and look after invited guests such as creators, artists' friends and your own team for the whole weekend. Hosts keep the space clean, stocked and calm, check names and capacity and help guests with water, shade and directions. Camping check-in, wristbands and the festival's own VIP camping are run by the festival. Tell us how many guests you expect and when they arrive, and we will plan the hosting around it.
What experience do your staff have with camping festivals? +
Our Midwest roster has worked camping festivals, multi-day outdoor concerts, county fairs, art festivals and brand tours that sleep on site. Several have worked Electric Forest itself in earlier years and know the site, the paths and the way the weekend builds from Thursday to Sunday. They are used to heat, storms, mud, late nights and visitors who expect brands to fit the mood. On top of that comes a plan for lodging and rest, a shift lead day and night and a standby who lives with the crew, so your space stays well run for all four days.
